The Frankfort Girls Soccer Team suffered its 1st loss of the season to conference foe Crawfordsville on Wednesday night by a score of 2-1. Crawfordsville scored 1st 10 minutes into the game to put the Athenians up 1-0. The Hot Dog defense held strong for the rest of the half to take a 1-0 deficit into halftime. 10 minute into the 2nd half, Crawfordsville scored again off a high shot that Goal Keeper Sofia Byrd got her hands on, but was unable to corral the fast paced shot. The Hot Dogs bounced back one minute later off a great cross from Junior Beatriz Balderas who played a great ball into the box. Senior Lyndsey Isenhower passed to Freshman Flor Lopez who was able to find the back of the net with the shot. The Hot Dogs outshot the Athenians 7-6, but were unable to pull off the comeback. The Lady Hot Dogs (3-1, 0-1 Conference) host the Hot Dog Invitational on Saturday morning as they take on the Taylor Titans at 9 AM in the 1st game of the tourney.
The JV Girls Soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Crawfordsville in one half. Freshman Thaiz Mejia and Judith Ortiz had the only two shots for the Hot Dogs. The JV team continues to improve from the beginning of the season. They play another 1/2 game next Wednesday at Sheridan. The ladies displayed great effort throughout the game.
