Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · FHS Wins 2-1

The Lady Hot Dog soccer team got back on the winning track at home on Thursday night defeating Faith Christian 2 – 1. Emily Kelly scored first for the Dogs off a great pass from Flor Lopez with 27 minutes remaining in the 1st half. Senior Maritza Alanis scored the second goal off another pass from Lopez to seal the victory with 1 minute remaining in the 1st half. Jenny Lopez, Yesi Alanis, Noemi Guijosa, Marisol Cervantes, and Stephanie Ostler anchored the defense limiting the opportunities for Faith Christian. The lone Faith Christian goal was scored one minute into the 2nd half, but the Lady Hot Dogs held them to a single goal for the game. Sophomore Jessica Carapia played her best game as a central midfielder and Alejandra Cruz controlled the game with her excellent passing throughout the game. The Lady Hot Dogs are now 4-4-1 and travel to Western on Monday.

The JV team ended their half game in a tie 0 – 0. Thaiz Mejia, Tania Lopez, Jackie Pinzon, and Elle Cruz played well for the Hot Dogs. Judith Ortiz created multiple opportunities for the Dogs, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The JV team will travel to Western on Monday for a full JV game.
