Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Summer Soccer Invite

This past Saturday, July 23rd, the Lady Hot Dog Soccer program participated in a 6-team summer invite at Bishop Woods in Lafayette. Where they played 3 games in the crazy humidity. The 3 teams the Lady Dogs faced were Benton Central, Lafayette Jeff & Twin Lakes, none of which are actually on our season schedule.

It was a great tool to actually get to play against other teams and not just ourselves. All of the ladies that went worked hard and demonstrated how they can contribute in the upcoming season.

The first game was against Benton Central and the Lady Dogs managed an easy 4-1 win over a team that seemed to bring more JV players due to summer availability. Goals came from Alejandra Cruz, Emily Kelly, & Nallely Alanis.

In the second game we went against against Lafayette Jeff. Which brought just about as many players as we took (we took 21). So both teams could stay fresh throughout the day, or at least as fresh as a humidity of 105 degrees will let you. The Lady Dogs suffered their only loss on the day, 3-0. However, there was several opportunities that were just stopped by terrific goal keeping play from the Jeff goalie.

The final game was against Twin Lakes. The Lady Dogs managed a big win in the final game in which the other team brought fewer girls to play the day with. The final score ended up being 6-0. With goals coming from Alejandra Cruz (hat trick), Kya King, Jessica Crapaia, and Rylee Seibert.

Although it was an extremely hot day the ladies had a great time and bonded as a team. The Lady Dogs were especially thankful for Mr. Hammen driving from Lafayette to Frankfort just to drive the second Minibus in order to make this day happen. The season starts up soon with our official scrimmage against Lafayette Central Catholic at their place on August 13th starting at 10am. #SuccessIsEarned
