Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Dogs Soccer Hold on for Wild Finish

Lady Hot Dogs hold on for a wild 4-3 victory at home to earn their first win of the season. The game started similar to the Logansport game with the Lady Dogs giving up an opening score to the visitors within the first 10 minutes. After that the Dogs settled down and started to control the game just like at Logansport. The score was evened on an Alejandra Hernandez Cruz goal with the assist going to Emily Kelly.

The Lady Dogs added 2 more first half goals with them coming from Flor Lopez & Maria Alanis. The Dogs added their final goal in the second half when Yadira Lopez found the back of the net about mid-way through the final half. After that the game started to get interesting with the Comets scoring 2 goals to pull back within a single goal with about 15 minutes left to play.

The strong possession play was highlighted by a high shooting night with the Lady Dogs hammering away at the Comets goalies with 23 shots compared to the amount the defense gave up (7). The intense offensive pressure also lead to 8 corners taken by the Lady Dogs.

The back line of defense showed improvement with another game under their belt. The Lady Dogs get back to .500 on the season with the win. Next game up is Crawfordsville at home on Wednesday night.

Tough choice but player of the game goes to Alejandra Hernandez Cruz for her control of the field and contributing in areas that don’t go on the stat sheet.
