Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Hot Dogs Gut Out a Win

Wednesday night the Lady Hot Dog soccer team traveled to Sheridan to take on the Blackhawks. The high scoring Lady Dogs looked to continue the streak of high scoring games and got off to a great start when Flor Lopez netted a goal 3 minutes into the game after receiving a nice pass from Alejandra Hernandez Cruz. Flor’s goal runs her goal streak to 3 games.

After that the game took on a physical tone with the Blackhawks playing aggressive. This took the Lady Dogs sometime to adjust to the flow of the game. The Dogs looked to suffer a major injury when Yadira Lopez went down about midway through the first half. This lead to the Blackhawks lone goal of the with the Dogs’ focus slipped a little hoping there teammate was alright (Checked out– Only a bone bruise).

The contest remained tied at 1-1 though halftime and well into the second period. The Lady Dogs started to adjust to the physical play and found a way to drive home another score off the foot of Freshman Carolyne Morales (1st career goal) on an assist from Rylee Seibert.

The 2-1 victory is the 3rd win of the season for the Lady Dogs and was made possible by another terrific effort by Junior Goalie Ely Cruz. Who had 8 saves and really kept the Dogs in the game with her aggressive play in the net.  The offense lagged a little and Ely picked up the slack with her best game of the young season.

Next up for the Lady Hot Dogs is on Thursday night at home against Northwestern High School. The Player of the Game goes to Ely Cruz with her amazing game in the net; picking up the offense.
