Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Hot Dogs Missed Opportunities

Thursday night the Lady Hot Dog Soccer team kicked off a boys & girls double header against conference foe North Mont. The Dogs were looking to get back on the right track for the season and in conference play with a great game. Early on in the game it appeared the Lady Dogs would do just that with several scoring opportunities in the first 12 minutes. The attack continued with the Dogs peppering the North Mont keeper with 12 shots in the first half. However, the score remained 0-0 at the half.

The offensive attack continued into the second with some great play by the offensive half. Sadly none of the crosses, corner kicks and break aways could get past the North Mont keeper.

The defensive back line did a great job containing and frustrating North Mont’s offensive unit; even when giving up some great looks. Those great looks were foiled by the great play of both Frankfort goalies, Ely Cruz & Noemi Guijosa.

Late in the game the defense suffered another set back after losing Sophomore Center Back Marisol Cervantes to a leg injury. This is the same defensive line that has already been shuffled due to a back injury suffered by Junior Jessica Munoz. The Lady Dogs looked as if they would pull out a victory for their injured teammate getting several great looks after Marisol went down. However, after a great save by Noemi Guijosa that just couldn’t be held onto went closer to a North Mont player; they pulled ahead on an open goal with 9 minutes remaining in the game.

Even with giving up the goal late the Lady Dogs didn’t let up trying to get the goal back. Taking 8 shots after the restart with several of them being close saves by the North Mont keeper.

The loss drops the Lady Dogs to 3-4-1 on the season and 1-2 in Sagamore Conference play. Next up for the Lady Dogs is the final non-conference game of the year at Oak Hill this Saturday. Where the the ladies hope those close saves become great goals.

Player of the Game goes to Jessica Carapia for giving the rest of the offensive unit a great chance at scoring. She had 4 terrific crosses with 3 of them connecting with a Lady Dog player; while also serving in some amazing corner kicks.
