The volleyball teams both went 0-3 on Saturday at the Hot Dog Invite against #6 ranked Madison Grant (varsity), Carroll, Benton Central, and Kokomo (JV).
The bright spot of the day came from the JV, who picked up one set from Kokomo with a new lineup and played all day with energy, enthusiasm, and purpose. Leading the JV was Jalynn Kidwell with 10 assists, 5 kills, 7 aces, and 13 digs. Jenna Rockhold led the defensive effort with 40 digs on the day and 5 aces. Katy Benefiel had a solid day all around with 18 digs and several touch blocks at the net, while Yazmin Hernandez added 26 digs. Logan Tillman led offensively with 4 kills, hitting .289 (a personal and JV high for the season). Brooklyn Abbott made her JV debut this weekend contributing 7 digs. Katherine Barrero had 16 digs, and Tori Hopkins added 3 digs.
The varsity continues to play with a new lineup and hopes to continue to adjust and grow in new positions. Casey Robertson had 15 kills and 8 digs on the day, and Carson Hackerd added 8 kills and 20 digs. Maddie Toney played her first varsity tournament strong with 7 digs and was 16/16 from the service line with an ace against Benton Central. Emily Michael had 5 kills and 2 aces on the day, and Avery Drew had 24 digs and 2 aces. Riley Isgrigg had a big day with 5 kills and 33 assists. Kimee Kingma continues to play with an elbow injury. She had 4 kills, 3 digs, several touches at the net and a solo block. Chloe Roberts was huge at the net with 2 solo blocks and 5 kills.
The team travels to Tipton on Tuesday.
