Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Dogs Fall to McCutcheon

In Sectional action Thursday night the Lady Hot Dogs kicked off their post season in a game against McCutcheon. The Lady Dogs were looking to show improvement from last year’s sectional game against them in which they were defeated 10-0. The Lady Dogs came out aggressive and matched the aggressiveness from the Mavericks. It was just unfortunate that the Mavs were able to get some quick goals past some solid defensive play. The Lady Dogs quickly found themselves down 3-0 within the first 10 minutes.

However, after that point the nerves were gone and the ladies relaxed and played up to their potential holding the Lady Mavericks scoreless the remainder of the half even though they had several more opportunities.

After halftime it was like deja vu with the Lady Mavs scoring another quick 3 goals in the first 10 minutes. However, the Lady Hot Dogs didn’t give up and continued to fight and press forward with their offensive attack and had several great possessions and looks at goal. The Lady Hot Dogs gave up the final goal of the game with around 20 minutes left of action to make the score 7-0.

Although it ended up in a loss the Lady Hot Dogs showed improvement from last year by shaving off 3 extra goals. The Lady Dogs look to take all of the positive improvements from this season and carry it over into the off-season in order to build off a season of over coming injuries to major contributors.

The Lady Hot Dogs finish the season with an overall record of 4-9-1 and a Sagamore Conference record of 1-6 good for 7th place. Although the record didn’t improve the ladies still showed improvement by scoring 7 more goals than last year and giving up 5 less for a total of a 12 goal improvement. It is just unfortunate luck that those 12 goals were not more spread out.

The coaching staff would like to wish all of the ladies a great off-season and good luck to those that participate in Winter & Spring sports.
