In sectional play, the dogs traveled to Lebanon to take on North Montgomery. The hot dog defense would set the tone as we made life difficult for North to get anything going. Kya King, Emily Michael, and Rylee Seibert did the scoring in the first half. The score at half time was in favor of North Montgomery 19-15. The dogs would also bear the frustrations of not getting much going on the offensive end. A full court press most of the game would be the difference in the game for these two teams. As the dogs entered into the fourth quarter, North Montgomery led by seven. In the 4th, NM was able to find some holes in the defense and execute at the free throw line to pull the game away from the dogs. I can’t say enough about how hard this team works on defense. The great play on the defensive side of the ball was just not matched on the offense. Too many turnovers and mistakes was just too much. The final score was 41-30. Rylee Seibert led the team in scoring with 12, Kya King 9, Emily Michael 7, Kimee Kingma 2.
I am very proud of the progress that was made and dedication from this group. I want to thank the three seniors for their dedication to this program before I became the head coach and after. This groups regular season record was 3-21. Which was an improvement from last year and also the offensive avg for this team improved and the defensive points allowed decreased. I am excited about the summer and look forward to what the future of the Lady Hot Dog Basketball has in store.
