Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Hot Dog Soccer Wins Season Opener

The Lady Hot Dog soccer team took to the field for their first game of the season at home against Logansport. The Lady Dogs were looking to get some revenge after losing the season opener last year to the Berries. It didn’t look good with the Lady Dogs looking a little slow early on and then giving up the first goal of the game on a small misplay on a ball in the air. However, the Lady Dogs tied the game up shortly after that when Flor Lopez scored her first goal of the season off of a great cross from Jessica Carapia.

The score was tied at 1 all going into half time. It didn’t take long to get the Lady Dogs their first lead of the season when Yadira Lopez took a long pass from the defense and dribbled her way into scoring position and found the back of the net to make it 2-1 Hot Dogs. The Berries ended up responding a few minutes later. The Lady Dogs scored the final goal when Flor Lopez found the back of the net for the second time.

Some strong debuts were made by several underclassmen. The varsity girls don’t play again until next Monday at Eastern. With the JV Girls participating in a JV tournament at Northview High School this upcoming Saturday.

The JV also won against Logansport 5-0.

Goals by Carolyne Morales with a hat trick and one each by Maria Alanis and Liz Sandoval.
