On Saturday the JV Lady Hot Dog Soccer team woke up early and took a long bus ride to participate in Northview (Brazil, IN) High School’s Inaugural JV Tournament. The Lady Dogs played their first game against a very deep Brownsburg team. The Lady Dogs were down 3-0 at halftime but had some first half opportunities that were saved by the Brownsburg goalie. The Hot Dogs managed to get one in the back of the net when freshmen Liz Sandoval beat several Bulldog defenders with some nice dribble work. However, the lone goal wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs netted 5 total goals.

The loss put the Lady Hot Dogs in the consolation game against the host school Northview after they had previously fallen to McCutcheon’s JV in the first game of the day. You could tell that the Hot Dogs had just finished a game with giving up 2 goals in the first half to the Knights. However, the Lady Hot Dogs battled back and scored 3 quick goals within about 8 minutes by Liz Sandoval, Carolyne Morales, and Maria Alanis and were up 3-2 with 6 minutes left to play. The outright win went away when the Knights managed to break the defense down and get a quality shot into the back of the net. The game ended up going to sudden-death penalty kicks for the claim to 3rd place. The Knights won and elected to shoot first and their PK was blocked by Noemi Guijosa, our varsity keeper who traveled with the JV to log some field time but switched into her goalie gear to practice seeing a live PK. With the blocking of the Knight’s PK the Hot Dogs turned to freshmen Ari Regalado who calmly placed a great shot towards the upper left corner of the goal.
