Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Hot Dogs Shutout Sheridan

The Lady Hot Dogs earned their 4th shutout of the season by some strong defensive play against the visiting Sheridan Blackhawks. The game was a physical one and the Lady Dogs started a little slow but managed to get on the board first with a strong goal from Alejandra Hernandez Cruz from just inside the penalty mark after receiving a cross from Flor Lopez. The scoring continued when Flor Lopez connected on a long shot that looked more like a cross but found the back of the net. To wrap up the scoring in the first half was a long through ball by Flor Lopez to Emily Kelly who slipped her shot past the Blackhawk goalie. The half-time score stood at 3-0.

The physical play continued into the 2nd half but the Lady Dogs maintained possession throughout the half and didn’t let Sheridan get too many chances. The few that they managed to get the Hot Dog defense easily turned away. Emily Kelly added her 2nd goal of the night later in the 2nd half on a breakaway.

The win takes the Lady Hot Dogs to 5-1 on the season. Next, up the Varsity & JV take on Northwestern at their place Thursday night.
