On Tuesday night the Lady Hot Dog soccer team traveled to Southmont for their second conference game of the season. The game started off with some intensity and the Lady Dogs possessing the ball really well. However, that possession didn’t result in any early goals for the Hot Dogs.
There was a break down on defense about 20 minutes into the half that allowed the Mounties to strike first. The Lady Dogs would recover to not allow another goal during the half. The half time score was 1-0 Mounties.
The Lady Dogs defense broke down again and put goalie Noemi Guijosa in a tough spot which the Mounties capitalized on to go up 2-0 fairly early in the second half. However, the Lady Dogs got one of the two goals back after some great passing up the field lead to a Jessica Carapia cross to Flor Lopez who made a quick move and drove the ball past the Southmont goalie. The Hot Dogs only had a few more chances after that but the Southmont defense & goalie managed to make some quality stops.
The 2-1 loss drops the Hot Dogs to 5-3 (1-1) on the year. The next time the Hot Dogs play will be a split squad double header on Thursday Night. The varsity squad will play at home against Faith Christian while the JV will travel to Hamilton Heights.
