The volleyball team faced two tough opponents this week in Tipton and Clinton Prairie. On Tuesday, the girls played tough but could not score offensively against the Blue Devil’s tough defense. Leading the way was Ashley Timmons with 13 kills and Kimee Kingma with 12 kills. Riley Isgrigg had 38 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 aces.
On Thursday, the team was out hustled by the Gophers, dropping the match 0-3. Offensively, Ashley Timmons had 8 kills, Kimee Kingma and Emily Michael each had 6 kills, Chloe Roberts had 5 kills, Ally Timmons had 3 kills, and Riley Isgrigg had 3 kills and 25 assists. Defensively, the team had their most successful blocking performance of the season. Allyson Timmons and Chloe Roberts each had 3 solo blocks and Ashley Timmons had a block assist. Avery Drew had 15 digs, Riley Isgrigg and Chloe Roberts each had 12, Maddie Toney had 8, and Kimee Kingma and Ashley Timmons added 7 digs. Jenna Rockhold came in to serve well for the team, leading a 3 point run in game 2.
The team looks to bounce back against Clinton Central on Tuesday in Michigantown.
In JV action, the girls played well but dealt with mid-game slumps that were difficult to overcome. At Clinton Prairie, Lindsey Gay led the team in kills with 5, while Mallory Martin had 3 and Sydney Pearcy and Kylie Norman each added 1. Ingrid Valdes played well at the net with 2 solo blocks and 2 kills. Yazmin Hernandez had 6 digs and Grace Campbell had an ace and two digs.
