On Tuesday night the Lady Hot Dog soccer team traveled to Crawfordsville to take on the North Montgomery Chargers in a newly revamped Sectional, consisting of nothing but Sagamore Conference members minus Southmont & WEBO.
The Lady Hot Dogs struck first when two freshmen, Liz Sandoval & Ariana Regalado, played some nice combinations back and forth that resulted in Liz Sandoval taking a hard shot inside the 18-yard box and finding the back of the net giving the dogs the early 1-0 lead. Although the Lady Dogs controlled most of the first half’s action the Chargers had a few opportunities that were either snuffed out by the defensive line or saved by Noemi Guijosa. Going into half-time the score was still 1-0 in favor of the Hot Dogs.
The second half started off with the Chargers trying to take advantage of starting with the ball and focused on an aggressive attack. However, once again the Lady Hot Dogs defense stopped the early attacks and then triggered a counter attack for the Lady Dogs that resulted in another goal when Flor Lopez took a shot from just inside the left edge of the 18-yard box that managed to get past the Charger goalie.
The Lady Hot Dogs got their 3rd and final goal of the evening when Ariana Regalado settled a ball from Flor Lopez and managed to shoot it through traffic past the goalie.
The Lady Dogs then held on and stopped a few more attempts at the goal. The win sets up a rematch with Danville who won the opener over Tri-West 5-1.
The shutout win extended the team’s program records for wins & shutouts in a season at 11 & 8 respectively.
