Girls Varsity Softball · Softball: Mounties Take 2 From Hot Dogs

Frankfort Hot Dog Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-1 loss to Southmont on Tuesday in the first game of the evening.  The Hot Dogs lost despite out-hitting Southmont eight to four.  Avery Drew took the loss, pitching six innings, allowing four hits and striking out five.  The Dogs saw the ball well, totaling eight hits in the game. Katie Roberts and Drew each collected multiple hits. K. Roberts led the Dogs with three hits in three at bats.  Karleigh Bessler, Jenna Rockhold, and Morgan Dean each had one hit.  Drew had 3 stolen bases. 
The Dogs struggled in the second game of the evening against Southmont.  Morgan Dean, Karleigh Bessler, Chloe Roberts, Katie Roberts and Hailey Cook all had one hit for the dogs in the loss but the dogs struggled to put runs on the board.  Makayla Harper took the loss, lasting three innings, allowing six hits and 11 runs and striking out two.  Avery Drew pitched two innings, allowing two hits and two runs, striking out four. 
The Dogs traveled to Western on Wednesday evening.  They collected three hits with Morgan Dean, Avery Drew, and Karleigh Bessler all collecting one hit. 
The Hot Dog JV is in action at home on Friday evening with a double-header against Southmont at 5:30 pm.
