Frankfort Hot Dog Softball participated in the Clinton Prairie Invite on Saturday, finishing in 3rd place and going 2-1 on the day.
The Dogs started the day strong with a 14-2 win over Tri-County. Karim Quinones led the Dogs at the plate going 5-5 with one home run. Avery Drew followed at 4-5 along with Sydni Whitaker 3-5, Chloe Roberts 2-5 and Katie Roberts 2-5. Makayla Harper picked up the win for the Dogs, pitching 5 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. Whitaker pitched 2 innings in relief, allowing 0 hits and striking out 4.
In the second game of the day, the Hot Dogs faced Clay City. Despite out hitting Clay City 10 to 6, the Dogs lost 5-6 in extra innings. Katie Roberts led the Dogs at the plate going 3-4. The Dogs were strong on the bases with a total of 8 stolen bases with Sydni Whitaker and Tarah Martinez each with 2 and Avery Drew, Karleigh Bessler, Karim Quinoes, and Kylie Norman each with 1.
In their final game of the day, the Lady Dogs face county rival Clinton Prairie Gophers. The Dogs tallied a total of 21 hits in the 10-inning game for the 12-11 victory. Kylie Norman led the Dogs going 4-6 with Avery Drew, Kimee Kingma and Katie Roberts all 3-6. Drew picked up the win for the Hot Dogs, pitching the final 3 innings of the game, allowing 3 hits and striking out 3. Makayla Harper started the game, pitching 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and striking out 4.
The Dogs have a busy week ahead, traveling to Lebanon on Tuesday for a Varsity/JV game and to Lafayette Jeff for a Varsity/JV game on Wednesday and then at home on Thursday against Lebanon for another Varsity/JV game.
