Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Hot Dogs Go Trade Goals but End Up Short

On Saturday the Lady Hot Dogs tried to find the winning side after dropping a game to Northwestern earlier in the week by hosting the visiting Oak Hill Eagles. The game started off fast with the Eagles taking an early lead and then adding to it 12 minutes later for a quick 2-0 lead after about 15 minutes of play. The Lady Hot Dogs got one back when Junior Captain Liz Cruz Sandoval found the back of the net at the 22-minute mark of the first half. The Dogs ended up tieing it at 2 goals apiece when after a lot of traffic in front of the Eagle’s goal Senior Carolyne Morales managed to poke the ball into the back of the net.

The tie didn’t last long when the Eagles managed to find the back of the net again taking a 3-2 lead in the last ten minutes of the half. However, Liz managed to score a late half goal to send it to halftime all tied up at 3-3.

The second half started a little slower than the first with both teams making some adjustments to limit the high scoring affair. However, Oak Hill managed to get their 4th goal on the day with 26 minutes left to play. The Lady Dogs had some nice chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. Oak Hill got another goal a few minutes later on a great shot from a set-piece.

The Lady Dogs made things interesting controlling possession for the last 12 minutes of the game especially when Liz recording her 3rd goal on the day at the 11-minute mark. Even though the Lady Dogs had a few more looks they just couldn’t quite find the back of the net to even the score at 5; they ended up on the wrong end of a high scoring affair 5-4.

The loss drops the Lady Hot Dogs to 3-3-1 on the season. Next up is a Sagamore Conference game when the Lady Hot Dogs travel to Southmont on Tuesday.
