On Saturday the Lady Hot Dogs took on Hamilton Heights in a Varisty-JV doubleheader. The Lady Dog started off strong playing well and frustrating the Huskies. The game was scoreless for the first 22 minutes until the Huskies finally managed to capitalize on a shot that got past the Hot Dog goalie Jessie Ramos. The Lady Hot Dogs had a few attempts after that point but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Jessie Ramos came up big about 10 minutes after the first goal when a Hot Dog defender was called for a foul inside the penalty area. Jessie made the right read and blocked the PK to keep the score at 1-0. The PK save made Jessie now 2 for 3 on stopping PKs on the season.
The half ended with the Huskies leading 1-0. The 2nd half was a game of inches; with the Huskies getting a few lucky breaks on where the ball hit. The Huskies managed a 2nd goal of the game when a really soft was partially deflected and hit on the wrong side of the square goal support and went into the net instead of out.
While the 3rd and final goal of the game for the Huskies came after Jessie blocked a great close shot but the rebound went to a Husky player standing next to a Hot Dog. Jessie almost made it across the face of the goal for a 2nd save in a matter of seconds but the shot went in just a few inches out of Jessie’s reach.
Overall the Lady Hot Dogs played a much better game than the 3-0 score reflected and was probably their best game played in a week and a half.
The loss, however, does drop the Lady Hot Dogs to 3-5-1 on the season.
