Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Hot Dogs Fall to Chargers

On Thursday night the Lady Hot Dogs traveled to Montgomery County for the 3rd time on the season, this time to take on the North Montgomery Chargers. The game did not start well for the Lady Hot Dogs as they gave up three goals to the Chargers in the first 22 minutes on some really poor team play from the Lady Hot Dogs. It appeared to be the same culprit of some games a few weeks ago with girls playing without a lot of effort and watching their teammates play with the ball.

The Lady Hot Dogs managed to get one of the goals back with a minute to play in the first half when senior Maria Alanis dribbled through the Charger Defense and finally found the back of the net after going several games without a score.  The score going into half time was 3-1 Chargers.

The Lady Hot Dogs started the 2nd half much more aggressive than the 1st and were taking several shots at the Charger goalie. The Lady Dogs finally got another goal back when Liz Cruz Sandoval scored the 2nd Hot Dog goal of the game; making the score 3-2 Chargers with 28 minutes left to play.

The Chargers managed to grab the 4th goal on a solid counter-attack after the Hot Dogs started to extend themselves a little more on the offensive side of the field. Giving them a 2-goal lead with 15 minutes left to play.

The Hot Dogs quickly got that goal back when junior Ari Regalado scored 30 seconds after the game restarted. Once again putting the Hot Dogs down by 1 goal with a little over 14 minutes left to play. The Hot Dogs continued to apply pressure and taking some great shots that the Charger goalie made some great saves on.

The Chargers managed to get their 5th goal with about 5 minutes to play that was once again more of a product of aggressive offensive play attempting to push the game to overtime. The final score ended up being 5-3 North Montgomery.

The loss drops the Lady Hot Dogs to 3-7-1 after a really tough stretch in the schedule and now sit at 1-2 in Sagamore Conference play. The Ladies finish the season playing nothing but conference opponents and next up is Lebanon on Wednesday.
