Hot Dogs News · Volleyball Falls in 5 to Western

The traditional match up between the Frankfort Hot Dogs and the Western Panthers volleyball teams calls for a five game match with many exciting rallies, ups and downs, surprises, and thrilling finishes. Last night was no exception. The team came out playing the best two games of their season, taking Western down 25-23, 25-15. This awoke the sleeping giant senior class of seven from Western, who then came out and took games 3, 4, and 5.

Not backing down from the challenge last night was Mercedez Toney who tallied 32 digs and served 15/15 with an ace. Lindsey Gay had a well rounded match with 16 digs, 24 assists, and 5 kills. Allyson Timmons had a career best 6 blocks for the team with 5 kills. Morgan Adamson led the team in kills with 9, and also had 16 digs and an ace. Maicee Sterrett had 6 kills and 17 digs, and Tarah Martinez added 21 digs, was 18/18 serving, and put down 5 kills. Sydni Whitaker served tough last night going 10/11 with an ace and also tallied 11 digs. Bella Colby was also a huge factor in the defense with 2 blocks, and she also added 5 kills. Eryka Pillion came in game four and added 2 digs and a spark of energy to the squad.

The JV fell to Western in two games. Eryka Pillion led the team with 11 digs and 3 aces. Emma Pillion had 5 digs and 2 kills, Jazzy Oppelt had a kill and 3 digs, and Emily Hurless added 3 digs and a kill. Amber Houchen returned strong with a kill and 3 blocks, and Jennifer Hernandez Gomez added 2 digs.

The varsity plays at West Lafayette this evening.
